Help Us Support COVID-19 victims

Donate to Ease the Humanitarian Crisis Caused by the Spread of Corona Virus.

India has been under lock down since the 24th of March 2020, to break the spread of the novel Corona Virus, also called the COVID-19. ODISHA RISING FOUNDATION (ORF) has rigorously responded to the crisis, reaching out to the most vulnerable communities in Odisha.
ORF response has been at three levels, we have provided grounded inputs from the perspective of workers and vulnerable communities to the State Government policy and program processes, spread awareness on sanitation and protection to communities and staff and volunteers who are responding, and finally by bringing immediate relief and succor through cooked food, dry rations, sanitation materials and counselling support.

Our team and volunteer at the districts level have worked with local administration to spread awareness among marginalized communities on the need to maintain, social distancing, adhering strict lock down and hygiene practices to stop the spread of the disease. We have also provided immediate supplies of masks, dry ration, and sanitation material.

More than 5000 families who are living in the slums and are daily wagers are supported directly and impacted more than 18000 individual indirectly.

Our supply of support materials have been focused on the households dependent on the informal economy, who are at most risk as social distancing is an almost insurmountable challenge for them, and the lock down has led to an immediate stop to work and income, and they have little if any resources to cope with the lockdown.

Support ORF’s Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

In times distress ORF stands in solidarity with the communities we work with, and we are taking measures to help mitigate the risks they face as the pandemic spreads.
Much more is needed to be done to ensure the spread of the infection is stopped and everybody is able to cope with the nationwide lockdown currently underway, and the localized downs that are expected to follow.

What we needed for protecting communities from corona virus is to encourage and enable people to regularly wash hands and follow hygienic practices, which is challenging when the localities and homes where vulnerable communities live in make the practice of “social distancing” impossible.

We need to ensure the lockdown, prevents community spread of the “Corona virus”. For protecting marginalised communities from COVID-19, access to hygiene products has to be made and essential supplies need to be made available to households. The unprecedented situation makes it necessary to be helping families of daily wage earners by direct transfer of cash to identified households, and thus support families affected by job loss due to COVID-19.

You can donate for protecting poor from the spread of corona and support poor and marginalised communities in this unfolding pandemic by contributing to the COVID-19 response fund to provide for hygiene kits, ration supplies and direct cash transfers for them which would reduce the vulnerability faced by the communities who would be most at risk in case of large-scale community transmission of the virus.
